Barnardo’s has been helping vulnerable children and their families since 1867. We help children who face poverty, abuse, disability and exclusion. We help those without families find loving homes through fostering and adoption. We support children who have been victims of abuse and we ensure young unemployed people receive training.

Whatever the issue, from family drug misuse to disability, from youth crime to mental health, from sexual abuse to domestic violence, Barnardo’s works to bring out the best in every child, and believes that all children deserve the chance to fulfil their potential.

Barnardo’s staff are experts on the issues affecting children and their families. We lead the way in developing best practice and campaign to bring about lasting improvements to children’s lives.

Much of the work done in our 400-plus projects relies on the generosity of the general public. We are tremendously grateful for the money raised from volunteer fundraisers for example and always welcome new support in this way. Remarkably, almost half of all the money we receive from the public comes from gifts in Wills. This type of donation is absolutely vital to our work. We describe it as our lifeblood.
